Molecular Detection of BK and JC viruses questionnaire

UK NEQAS for Microbiology intends to develop a new scheme for the molecular detection of BK virus (BKV) and JC virus (JCV) for laboratories that use molecular detection methods to test for those viruses. We would appreciate your help by filling out this questionnaire so we can review testing practices for these viruses and to determine which laboratories may be interested in the scheme. Please tick the relevant boxes and fill in the blanks where specified.

Please submit your questionnaire online no later than 20th April 2018.

1. Does your laboratory test(s) for BK virus and/or JC virus?*
2. Are you planning to implement any testing for these virus(es) in the future?
If yes, when:
3. Which patient group samples do you test for the BK virus:
If other (please specify):
4. Which patient group samples do you test for the JC virus:
If other (please specify):
5. Do you test these patient group samples for any additional marker?
6. Please fill this table with the relevant information:
*For in house assay please specify the primers/ probes and where applicable any publications/ reference related to them.
7. Please indicate which type of specimens do you accept for testing?
Others (please specify):
8. Indicate the sample volume (in μL) used for extraction:
Please specify other:
9. Does your molecular assay target single or multiple pathogens?
10. How frequently do you run BKV PCR assay in your laboratory?
11. How frequently do you run JCV PCR assay in your laboratory?
12. What do you do with the sample after receipt?
13. Where do you store the sample?
13. After extraction, where do you store the extracted nucleic acid?
13. After centrifuge, where do you store the sample?
13. If other, where do you store the sample?
14. How many patient samples do you test per week for these markers?
15. Would you be interested in participating in a pilot EQA scheme for the Molecular detection of BK and JC viruses?*
